Most of the smart home's features have now become a zero-touch user experience. The past decade has seen a similar convergence of our domestic spaces with the evolution of a digital network created by the Internet of Things that can be controlled through our smartphones. Concurrent improvements in battery technology are helping drive the change in meter technology. Because power densities are improving, the life of the meters is also increasing. It is not uncommon to see static meters with a battery life of 15 or more years.
